VALLEY OF THE WINDMILLS 2001 (Proposed)
LED lights, wind, steel, aluminum 8' diameter x 50' highest. Commissioned by the San Francisco Arts Commission to create a gateway into the city at Vistacion Valley/Little Hollywood for the Third Street MUNI Light Rail System.
This area of the city was known as the Valley of the Windmills because in the 1800's many of the farms used wind power for fields. The design of a wind turbine has been elaborated to fit within the 8' wide traffic median.
